About Us

We are an outreach branch of the University of Tennessee, providing services and opportunities to the residents of Tipton County.

We are funded through a cooperative agreement between federal, state and county governments. All of our programs are offered to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability and we are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

A familiar sight during harvest season in Tipton County is truckload upon truckload of baled cotton from one of the many cotton gins.  Approximately 85 percent of the county’s total acreage is devoted to farming:  corn, soybeans, wheat, grain sorghum, hay and lespedeza are other principle crops.  The county name honors Captain Jacob Tipton, who fell in St. Calair’s defeat near Fort Washington in 1971
